Your brain is made out of food. What’s more important, having 200 cable channels or feeding your brain the nutrients it needs?
~ Tyler Graham, co-author of The Happiness Diet
This is not necessarily an endorsement of the diet, though any approach that promotes a nutrient-dense, whole foods diet is a pretty good start!

Unfortunately, a lot of people choose the 200 channels. They perceive all-you-can-see television as bringing more happiness than nutritious food. The results are more immediate. Maybe it depends on one’s definition of “happiness.”
Over the last few months, I’ve started to crave nutrients. However, before that I obsessed over the 200 cable channels.
Been there, done that ;).
Either way, I suspect that a lot of people are trying to feel better and to cope with oppressive aspects of culture that we are repeatedly told will provide us with greater freedom and satisfaction. Many have lost the sense of connection and security once fostered by close community ties, for example. Two hundred cable channels can’t replace caring neighbors, respectful and reasoned public discourse, or meaningful and rewarding work-nor can whole foods, junk foods, or any other kinds of food substitute for intangible and unaknowledged social losses.
