Today’s study is not so annoying (the abstract is pretty brief and lacking any specifics about any actual research) but still interesting. Researchers at the University of Colorado are looking into the effect of higher fructose consumption on athletes.
Money quote (emphasis mine):
Although additional research is required to clarify the possible health-related implications of long-term intake of large amounts of dietary fructose among athletes, regular exercise training and consequent high daily energy expenditure may protect athletes from the negative metabolic responses associated with chronically high dietary fructose intake.
Me, I think the idea that exercise is protective of excess fructose is a very plausible explanation of why our sedentary lifestyle is problematic — as opposed to the simplistic eat less, move more “Nightmare on ELMM St” concept.

I find it funny that people blame food and sedentary lifestyles on obesity, but they never mention the affect of technology. Very incomplete thinking and very interesting.
I wonder if they are referring to dietary fructose in the form of fruit or in the form of sports drinks?
