I’ll be following this up with a post about the conference, but I have to lead off with a huge thank you to the volunteers who made AHS12 run so well. I hadn’t met any of these folks until Wednesday, having only connected via email, but it wasn’t long until it felt like a real team.
Before we got to Cambridge, I’d let them know that the Paleo FX vols had set the bar pretty high, and though I’m biased, I think they met or exceeded that standard. I’ll be adding pics as they become available, but for now, here are your real AHS12 rock stars!
Audiovisual ninjas
Lisa Gizzarelli and Larry Kotovets deftly handled tech for more than 50 sessions over the three days of AHS12. While the tech at Wasserstein was pretty slick and fairly new, the very tight schedule of AHS12 (along with the tendency of presenters to sometimes tweak their slides until the last minute) made getting presentations going the hard-core job of the symposium. Major props to Lisa and Larry for handling this job like seasoned professionals!
Registration rockers

Vicky Vissering, Tori Kean, and Judith Chapman helped out elsewhere too, but as the conference went on, I found I kept assigning them to registration because they were just so fab at taking charge. Vicky went all ER triage on the bag stuffing situation Thursday AM, and Tori and Judith rocked their iPads and helped make registration move smoothly. Thanks so much!!
Session superstars
Aside from tech and registration, AHS12 vols in their coffee-colored tees were critical support! Tamara De Moor, Brady Gelvin, Amy Kubal, Nick DeTar-Koch, Andreas Dietzel, Moira Sherry, and Stephanie Soscia kept AHS12 running smoothly by getting speakers onto or off the stage, keeping speakers on track with time, tracking slide changes to make video post-production easier, helping quiet down folks to avoid disrupting sessions, and doing all sorts of other ad-hoc duties as needed.
I was so impressed by all of our AHS12 volunteers … their enthusiasm at the end of day 3 was just as strong as it was on day 1. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
In a pinch
I’d also like to thank Shirley McLean, David McGee, Dustin Jones, and Ben Greenfield. They helped out during setup and where needed during the sessions, just pitching in because they wanted to help. Thank you!!

Beth
I couldn’t agree more! Terrific job indeed.
Shall we also include the amazing work done by the chairs? Last time I checked, they were not getting paid! So that makes you guys volunteers too. And I know there were countless hours before the conference even started!
Kudos to all who volunteered!

Thanks David!
