I’m not a traditional HAES girl (given my weight loss efforts) but I agree with the HAES folks that health comes first. I also agree that the childhood obesity billboards in Georgia are a terrible public health strategy.

Weight Maven is written by Beth Mazur. Beth believes that obesity is more symptom than cause and that the real problem is our Western diet -- especially sugar, refined grains, and industrial oils. Beth writes about nutrition, ancestral health & food policy. And cats! 
I donated too. The Georgia campaign is shameful; it will do nothing to improve children’s health and much to promote hatred and stigma.
Thanks Beth for posting about this and providing the link to help out. It’s bad enough that a mainstream diet messes with their bodies, we don’t need to add shame and stigma to mess with their heads.
