Leap blog

Hmmm, I didn’t post much this week, but at least I managed to post on Leap Day!

Stop looking at me like that. I know I should have blogged more this week.

Go figure

So we’re scheduled for a little weather tomorrow. Snow, ice, rain. Oh joy.

Too bad I’m scheduled for an all-day meeting that I really have to attend. I can only hope that most folks stay home and the commute in (or home) won’t be a disaster.

But I’m sitting here watching the nightly news to get a sense of what will happen when, and they show this clip of storm preparations, and in College Park, Maryland, they are cutting tree limbs to avoid power outages in case of an ice storm.

Okay, here’s the thing. It is February 21st. Why is anyone clearing tree branches in the 24 hours before the ice storm? Wouldn’t you think that this is something that could have happened, say, starting in November or so?

I realize this has been a wacky winter, what with our 70 degree weekends and all that, but still.

Ah well. Go figure.

Chris Cuomo rocks

I’ve made a habit of watching the first 20 minutes of Good Morning America before heading off to work. I can take or leave Diane Sawyer, but do like Robin Roberts and Chris Cuomo.

They’ve recently started a new gimmick where all the regulars do a dare that the others come up with. Last week, Robin walked the catwalk in Isaac Mizrahi’s show at Fashion Week in NY. Pretty inspiring (she was recently diagnosed with breast cancer, and did her thing without her wig).

All good. But today was Chris’ day. And they had him drop 400 feet from the top of the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic city.

I don’t particularly have a fear of heights, but I don’t know what would compel me to move off the roof of that building! For me, watching him actually fall was a bit anticlimactic.

Watch it.

Rainbow over the Potomac

As David notes (or is it Sarah?), today was an early spring day in DC.

70-plus? In February?!?

They had fun at the zoo … me, I got a head start on some spring cleaning. But I did manage to catch this rainbow over the Potomac in the late afternoon.

All good for us, but sobering when you think of so much of the US (and the rest of the world) that is being hammered with treacherous non-seasonal weather. And scary.

Voter 42

So I’m sitting here, watching Hardball, and ignoring the incoming phone call with caller ID “Out of Area.” And guess who’s calling? A robocall of John McCain! He really wants to win Virginia.

Oops.

I was voter 42 in my precinct this AM (around 6:30 as a matter of fact). I voted for Obama.

If only he had called me yesterday…not.
